ITANAGAR, Dec 22: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) interacted with students and teachers from the Vivekananda Kendra Vidhyalaya schools of the State at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Friday.
Raj Bhavan hosted the VKV students’ programme, on the occasion of ‘Gita Jayanti’ who presented a cultural programme. The highlight of the evening was a group recital of Bhagavad Gita’s slokas in Sanskrit from Third Chapter on Karma Yog. The recital reverberated resulting in vibrant and pious notes creating an atmosphere of peace, tranquillity and motivation all around. The participating students also presented the universal prayer ‘Mangalacharan’ on the occasion. 
Impressed by the recital, the Governor suggested that such an event may be organised in a big way to promote the cultural heritage and ethos of India. He advised the teachers and students to share the knowledge of Gita, and adopt the same in their lives, conduct and thoughts.
The Governor suggested that cultural programmes, which endorse and promote the Indian intellectual values and traditions, must be popularized in all educational institutes. He assured that he will arrange for an opportunity for the students to perform the recital during special visits by dignitaries.
The Governor exhorted the students to connect with the Viksit Bharat initiative launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He said that the present leadership is taking initiative to plan and envision the future of the nation but, it is the youth of the day, who will have to realize this vision as future leaders as India celebrates its Amrit Kaal.
Swami Samanand Giri also spoke on the teachings of Lord Krishna on ‘Geeta Jayanti’ and Shri SC Dixit, Education Officer, VKV Arunachal Pradesh Trust briefed regarding the Vivekananda Kendra and Inter-VKVs Gita Chanting Competition.   
The Governor gave away prizes to the winners of State level Inter-VKVs Gita Chanting Competition, which was conducted at Vivekananda Kendra Centre for Human Excellence, Yupia on the occasion. VKV Nivedita Vihar, VKV, Tafrogam, VKV, Roing and VKV, Balijan received first prize in various categories and VKV, Sunpura and VKV, Tawang received second prizes.
Er. Pai Dawe Sah Prant Pramukh, Smt. K K Reena, Education Officer along with teachers and students from 44 VKV schools participated in the programme.
