Doimukh, Aug 11: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik (Retd.) on Friday inaugurated the Rajiv Gandhi University’s Community Radio Station - Radio Rono 91.2 FM. In his maiden visit to the Central University, he also inaugurated the building housing the Department of Mass Communication.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor, who is also the Chief Rector of the University, conveyed his heartiest greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh in general, and the Rajiv Gandhi University fraternity and local communities in particular. He expressed hope that Radio RGU 91.2 FM will serve the cause of the people in the area by disseminating information on a variety of topics and will also give voice to local aspirations.
Parnaik complimented Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice Chancellor, RGU and the university fraternity for successfully setting up the RGU community radio station in the campus. He said that RGU Community radio will be an informative channel which shall air programmes on social and welfare issues like education, health, environment, community development and employment etc. 
Interacting with the students of Mass Communication during his visit to the Department, the Governor advised them to promote a positive vibe in society. He suggested them to endorse good works and activities in society and coined a name for the campaign ‘Achhi Baat’.
Earlier, on his arrival in the University Campus, the Governor was accorded Guard of Honour by NCC Cadets of RGU. He laid a wreath at the Wall of Heroes.
MLA Tana Hali Tara, Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Cheechung Chukhu and SP Taru Gusar were also present on the occasion.
The Governor also interacted with the members of the faculty. He said that education is the most powerful weapon which can be used to change the world for the better and RGU has huge responsibility for driving forward the objective of educating and enriching futuristic endeavours of the State.
The Governor said that as members of the RGU faculty, they are moulding the young minds and guiding the future professionals and leaders of the State. He urged them to imbibe a sense of commitment, responsibility, discipline, ownership, professionalism and passion in their teaching methods.
Parnaik emphasized that the teaching community must develop effective communication, innovation techniques and simplicity in imparting knowledge and teach their students beyond the textbook information.  He advised them to build trust and bonding with the students.
The Governor impressed upon the members of the faculty to lead their students with examples and high moral integrity. He also stressed on extracurricular activities for all round development of the students.
Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University, Prof. Saket Kushwaha and RGU Registrar, Dr. N. T. Rikam briefed the Governor about the achievements and future plans of the lone Central University.
