ITANAGAR, Feb 22: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) today discussed issues pertaining to the state’s security, law and order and civilian-army relationship with General Officer Commanding (GOC), 4 Corps Lt. General Ravin Khosla, AVSM, SM, VSM who called on him at the Raj Bhavan.
Stressing on instilling a sense of security among the state’s people, the Governor shared his concern about the three eastern districts which have lately been affected by insurgency in addition to the four police stations of Roing, Sunpura, Namsai and Mahadevpur. Conveying his concern regarding extortion, intimidation and unlawful detention by the insurgents to the GOC, the Governor said that strict vigil must be maintained so that over-ground workers of the militant groups are thwarted from disturbing peace and developmental process in the state. Exchange of intelligence inputs among the army, police and administration must be fast and in a real-time manner for launching effective countermeasures, he opined.
While advising the GOC to focus on building better civilian-army relationships for strengthening the local support base, the Governor also stressed on continuation of local welfare measures including medical facilities rolled out by the Armed Forces in remote border areas. PRO Raj Bhavan
