Itanagar, Sep 16: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd.), felicitated National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets who represented the State at the Republic Day Camp, Republic Day Parade and Prime Minister’s Rally in New Delhi during 2025 and 2026, at NERIST today.
Congratulating the cadets, the Governor said that earning a place in the Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path is a rare honour and a matter of immense pride for the cadets, their families, educational institutions and the people of Arunachal Pradesh. He said that for the State, their participation carries a deeper significance, as they serve as ambassadors of Arunachal Pradesh before the nation, reflecting its discipline, confidence, rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, diverse tribal communities and the achievements of its people.
Highlighting the importance of the NCC, the Governor said that as the country’s largest uniformed youth organization, has played a vital role in nation-building by nurturing generations of young Indians with the values of discipline, leadership, character, courage and selfless service.
Addressing the cadets, the Governor said that the future of India and Arunachal Pradesh rests in the hands of the youth. Their aspirations, innovation and hard work will shape the nation’s progress. He urged them to be role model for their peers and community, and meaningful contributions to society and the country.
Referring to the Prime Minister’s call at the BRICS Summit to build an ‘ecosystem of solutions’, the Governor emphasized that young people must become problem-solvers, innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers and community leaders. They should identify challenges around them and work collectively to develop practical and sustainable solutions for the greater good.
The Governor reiterated his belief that every good citizen must possess three essential qualities, i.e. education, discipline and motivation. Education provides knowledge and wisdom, discipline instills responsibility and focus, while motivation inspires perseverance and achievement. He said that NCC cadets exemplify these qualities and are well placed to serve as role models for their peers and communities.
Advising the cadets to remain physically fit, mentally alert and morally straight, the Governor urged them to stay connected to their roots and cultural heritage while embracing modern knowledge and technology. He expressed confidence that they would continue to uphold the NCC motto, ‘Unity and Discipline’, and contribute meaningfully towards the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 and a prosperous, progressive and vibrant Arunachal Pradesh through lives dedicated to service, unity and patriotism.
Roing MLA cum Advisor to Education & Home Ministers, Muthchu Mithi, Secretary Education, Kanto Danggen, Director, and Director, Secondary Education, Marte Koyu also addressed the cadets.
Director, NERIST, Prof. Narendranath S, Commander NCC Group Headquarters, Tezpur, Brig. Mayank Vaid, In-charge Registrar, NERIST, Prof. Sarsing Gao, Col. Surjit Rai, NCC Admin, Shri Sokun Singh, Youth Officer, officers and instructors of NCC Battalions, NCC cadets and School children also attended the felicitation programme.
Senior Under Officer Lunkung Yaji of 1 AP Battalion NCC, Naharlagun, who represented Arunachal Pradesh in the Republic Day Parade on Kartavya Path during RDC 2025, was felicitated on the occasion. Also felicitated were Senior Under Officer Galmu Tamang, Under Officer Vishal Rai and Sergeant Chow Sidharth Manlai of 22 AP Battalion NCC, Pasighat, for their participation in the Prime Minister’s Rally during RDC 2025, and Sergeant Mitet Megu of 22 AP Battalion NCC, Pasighat, for representing the State in the Cultural Programme during RDC 2025.
For RDC 2026, Under Officer Koj Nancy, Cadet Elisha Kino and Cadet Likha Takap of 1 AP Battalion NCC, Naharlagun, were felicitated for their participation in the Cultural Programme. Senior Under Officer Rahul Chutia, Senior Under Officer Ajay Singh and Corporal Tamo Suniya of 1 AP Battalion NCC, Naharlagun, along with Sergeant Nanu Tamang and Sergeant Bir Tamang of 2 AP Battalion NCC, Tawang, were honoured for representing the State in the Prime Minister’s Rally. Cadet James Modi of 22 AP Battalion NCC, Pasighat, was also felicitated for his participation in the Cultural Programme during RDC 2026.
Captain Palvinder Singh, Associate NCC Officer of Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic College, Itanagar, was also felicitated on the occasion for his dedicated contribution to NCC training and youth development.
With 1AP NCC Battalion, Naharlagun, 22AP NCC Battalion, Pasighat and 2AP Mixed NCC Battalion, Tawang, the strength of NCC Cadets in the State is 12760.
