Itanagar, Mar 6: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) has extended warm greetings to the people of the State on the joyous occasion of the Unying Aran Festival. He expressed hope that the vibrant celebration of the Adi community would continue to showcase the cultural richness and diversity of the State.
In his message, the Governor said that the Unying Aran Festival, celebrated every March, is a traditional hunting festival observed by the Adi tribes. A key feature of this festival is rodent trapping, which plays a vital role in controlling pests before the planting of the main rice crop. As the first festival of the Adi 'New Year', it marks a time of unity and collective prayer for a bountiful harvest. The community comes together with great enthusiasm, performing traditional rituals with deep reverence and passion. I am confident that our Adi elders will continue to inspire younger generations to uphold indigenous farming practices and the conservation of our precious flora and fauna, he said.
On this auspicious occasion, I offer my heartfelt prayers to Almighty Donyi Polo, seeking blessings for all of humanity and the arrival of a prosperous year ahead, the Governor said in his message.
