Itanagar, Mar 6: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd.), has extended warm greetings to the people of the State, especially to the Adi community on the joyous occasion of the Unying Aran Festival. He expressed hope that this year’s Aran would continue to strengthen our bonds with one another and with nature, which has always been at the heart of our way of life.
In his message, the Governor said that Unying Aran, celebrated every March, marks the Adi New Year and the beginning of a new agricultural cycle. The festival, rooted in traditional practices such as rodent trapping, reflects the community’s deep understanding of nature and sustainable farming. These age-old practices help protect crops while maintaining ecological balance before the sowing of the main rice crop. I am confident that our respected elders will continue to guide the younger generation to cherish indigenous wisdom, promote responsible farming, and remain committed to the protection and conservation of our precious flora and fauna, he said.
On this occasion, I offer my prayers to Almighty Donyi Polo, seeking blessings for peace, prosperity, and harmony for all. May the coming year bring abundance to our fields, well-being to our people, and renewed resolve to safeguard our forests, wildlife, and natural heritage, so that future generations may inherit a land that is as rich, vibrant, and life-giving as it is today, the Governor wished in his message.
