Itanagar, Feb 14: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) has extended warmest greetings to the people of the State, especially the Mishmi brethren on the sacred occasion of the Tamla Du Festival. He expressed hope that this year’s festival would bring happiness, prosperity, and harmony to all.
In his message, the Governor said that the Mishmi community, rooted in age-old indigenous wisdom, holds an unwavering reverence for nature, believing that only through respect and preservation can they shield themselves from its forces. The Tamla Du Festival stands as a testament to their rich traditions and deep environmental consciousness, inspiring us all to cherish and safeguard our natural world, he said.
Governor Parnaik also greeted the people of the State and Mising community of Assam on the joyous occasion of Ali-Aye-Ligang. He expressed hope that the festivity ushers in tranquillity, contentment and happiness in society.
In his message, the Governor said that Ali-Aye-Ligang, rooted in the agrarian traditions of the Mising tribe, is a celebration of new beginnings, prosperity, and the deep bond between nature and humankind. This vibrant festival marks the commencement of the sowing season, symbolizing hope, hard work, and gratitude towards Mother Earth. The festival’s spirited dances and traditional feasts reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Mising people. It is a time of joy, unity, and the reaffirmation of our age-old traditions, he said.
