TAWANG, Jul 31: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General KT Parnaik, (Retd.), who is on a five-day tour of West Kameng and Tawang, interacted with Gaon Burahs, Panchayati Raj Institute members and Self Help groups of Dirang Circle at Dirang on Sunday.
The Governor called on the Gaon Burahs and Panchayat leaders to collaborate with the District Administration in strengthening the health and education sectors in the State. He urged upon them to assist in eradication of tuberculosis, cancer and drug menace amongst the youth by creating awareness as a social responsibility. He also exhorted them to motivate local educated youth to involve themselves in education and health sectors in the State.
The Governor said cleanliness and preserving the pristine environment are the basic requirements today to facilitate the ever increasing tourist inflow in the State. He insisted on the participation of Panchayat members and communities in waste management and promotion of health and hygiene.
Expressing happiness at the development in the State in the last few years and enthusiastic participation of the people in the process, the Governor said that the Central Government and the State Government are implementing a large number of welfare schemes and programmes with the spirit of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas Sabka Vishwas Sabka Prayas’ and people are benefiting out of it. In addition, the State Government is carrying out its special outreach programme of ‘Sewa Aapke Dwar’, he said while encouraging the Gaon Burahs to contribute to the socio-economic development process while upholding their traditions and customs.      
In the interactive session, the Gaon Burahs shared their challenges in efficiently performing their duties.
West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Akriti Sagar, Superintendent of Police Sudhanshu Dhama, Dirang Additional Deputy Commissioner JT Obi and Heads of Department were present in the meeting.
Artists of Monpa Institute of Performing Arts (MIPA) presented a traditional cultural programme on the occasion.
