DC inaugurates school amenity
Itanagar, Jan 5: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) has conveyed good wishes to the people of the State on the auspicious occasion of Si Donyi. He expressed hope that the celebration continues to strengthen the State's splendid cultural heritage and traditions.
The Governor said that the Si-Donyi festival of the Tagin Tribe is a vibrant cultural and religious celebration deeply embedded in the community's way of life. Observed annually, it signifies the worship of Si (Earth) and Donyi (Sun), reflecting the tribe's collective aspiration for health, prosperity, and well-being. Initially limited to family and village-level observances, it has now evolved into a grand community-wide celebration. Rooted in the mythology of Abo-Tani, the first human, the festival highlights the enduring rituals established to appease divine forces and overcome life's challenges. Through songs, prayers, and the Nyibu's (priest's) narration of ancient myths, Si-Donyi embodies the Tagin tribe's spiritual philosophy of sacrifice, unity, and harmony with nature. I am confident that our Tagin brethren will continue to preserve and promote the rich values and timeless traditions of their heritage, he said.
May this year's Si-Donyi celebration bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to the entire State, the Governor wished in his message.
