ITANAGAR, Jun 28: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik,(Retd.) has greeted the people of the State and the Muslim community in particular, on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Zuha.
In his message, the Governor said that Id-ul-Zuha, also known as Bakr-Id, reminds all of the absolute faith of Ibrahim Sahab (Abraham) in Allah and his paragon willingness for any sacrifice at the command of Almighty Allah. This festival is celebrated in the spirit of sacrifice and benevolence with great fervour and gaiety in India and the world. The occasion is meant to promote goodwill amongst the people. The festivity endorses purity of heart, obedience, and generosity towards others. Special prayer meetings and charitable actions like distribution of gifts and food to relatives, neighbours and the poor mark the significance of the day.
May Id-ul-Zuha this year further promote the rich Islamic tradition of peace and amity amongst all in society, the Governor wished in his message.
