ITANAGAR, Oct 1: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has conveyed his warm greetings to the people of the State on the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He expressed hope that the occasion will inspire all to follow the ideals of Gandhiji, who, throughout his life, stood for truth, non-violence and peace.
In his message, the Governor said that the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi continue to remain relevant even today. His vision for the Nation and his dream for the community as a whole still hold good for India. Gandhiji motivated the whole community to honour true humaneness. He guided the people to participate in the tasks that would promote greater good of the society, the Governor said.
The Governor said that Gandhiji considered cleanliness next to Godliness and called sanitation more important than political freedom. It is imperative that we become conscious of our responsibilities towards cleanliness and put in concerted effort to make our homes, colonies, towns and cities clean, hygienic and sanitized. As a befitting tribute to Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, let us actively participate in the ongoing nationwide cleanliness campaign, the Governor appealed.
On this special occasion, let us pledge to follow the path of truth and non-violence and dedicate ourselves to achieve universal goodwill, tolerance and harmony, the Governor said in his message.
