ITANAGAR, Apr 30: Governor PB Acharya and Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his warm greetings to the people of the State particularly the manual labourers, who are the strength of our society on the special occasion of International Labour Day.
Terming the workers backbone of development of the State and the Nation, Governor Acharya in his message said that International Labour Day, ‘1st May’ commemorates the struggle for fair labour practices and reminds all of us to strengthen this important section of our society. The Governor, who have been in the forefront for the cause of the labourers appealed to all on the International Labour Day, ‘May Day’ to respect the labourers and take care of their welfare.
Let us take this opportunity to create awareness of the policies and programmes of the Central and State Governments for the welfare of our workers. Let us give their dues in letter and spirit for their safety and security. Basic needs, such as accommodation, safe drinking water, medical and education facilities and provision under Food Security Act must be made available to them. We also create facilities for their children, i.e. Anganwadis and sports facilities in their camps, he said.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu while greeting the workers on the special occasion said that they are the spine of society which helps it to stand strong. “No development is possible without their effort and support” Khandu emphasised. He underscored the importance of their role in every sphere of development of a state, country and the world.
“Let us celebrate this event to strengthen, promote and encourage the working class, who are the soldiers of growth and development at the grass root” Khandu added.
On thanking the working class for their support rendered to the Government, Khandu called for rededicating their energy with renewed zeal and sense of responsibility towards work culture, sincerity, dedication and honesty for the progress and prosperity of the state and nation.
