ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have extended warm greetings to the people of the State and the Aka community in particular on the occasion of Sarok Festival. 
In his message, the Governor said that Sarok Festival showcases the age-old bond of the Aka community with nature and facilitates in emulating the Aka Fold’s traditions, cultural heritage and customs. He said that in celebrating this festival the community reminisces their forebears who have been the embodiment of the tribe’s standards and urged the younger generations to get proudly connected to their roots and partake in the celebrations as an enlightened part of our cultural diversity.
In a message here this evening, CM Khandu expressed hope that the festival would usher in a prosperous New Year and take Arunachal Pradesh on an unprecedented path of development. He reiterated that peace is mandatory for development and wished the festival would be celebrated with the message of peace and communal harmony.

“I believe, the colorful festival of the Akas,  sets up the tempo for peace and development. I wish all my people a successful celebration and may Almighty shower their choicest blessings on them,” he said.
Khandu further added that despite the threat of Corona virus still looming over, this year would witness mankind’s victory over the virus.
“May this Sarok mark the beginning of the end of COVID 19,” he added while urging the people to follow all the SOPs as circulated sincerely.
