ITANAGAR, Dec 4: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.), Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Speaker PD Sona have extended warm greetings to the people of the State on the festive occasion of Podi Barbi, one of the main festivals of the Adi community. The harvest festival is celebrated on 5th December every year.
In his message to the people, the Governor said that festival celebrations relate to cultural and ethnic services of the people and motivate them to remain connected to their roots. Festivals also cement the social cohesion. It gives an occasion to community elders to share their knowledge and experiences, which set the templates for maintaining unity in the Fold, he said.
On this occasion, I join my Adi brethren in offering prayers to Almighty Donyi Polo for their choicest blessings on each one of us, the Governor said in his message.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu has greeted the people on occasion of Podi-Barbi festival and wished that the agricultural festival would beget peace and prosperity amongst all communities of the state.
“I join in welcoming the agriculture season with my Ramo, Pai-Libo and Bokar brethren of Shi-Yomi district and pray for a bumper harvest in the coming year,” he said in a message this evening.
Khandu offered prayers that the legendary ‘Cicada’ like migratory insect, as believed by the communities, bring in prosperity and happiness for all.
As the festival is celebrated as a thanksgiving to Mother Nature for the abundant harvest and offer prayers for another bumper harvest and hunting season, the Chief Minister expressed faith that the celebration will mark another joyous year devoid of hunger, sickness and misery.
State Assembly Speaker P D Sona has extended warm greetings & good wishes to the people of Arunachal especially Adis of Shi-Yomi on the occasion of Podi-Barbi. Sona hoped that the festival would usher in a bumper harvest, good health and harmony for all.
