ITANAGAR, Apr 29:Governor PB Acharya today met the members of the North East Multi Purpose Development Society (NEMPDS), a NGO working towards promotion of Self Help Groups, marketing and manufacturing of handlooms & handicrafts, skill development amongst others.
The Governor asked the NGO to procure their raw materials for the production of handlooms and handicrafts from the original market itself rather than buying it from middlemen. He reasoned that this would enable them to sell it at a much cheaper rate than the market rate.
The Governor also assured to offer all his help in the marketing of these products, reasoning that while manufacturing a product is easy, selling it remains a challenge owing to stiff competition from various other vendors. He said that provided the quality is up to the mark, Raj Bhawan will also buy few products from the NGO, as and when required.
The Governor also assured the members of NEMPDS to help them in getting loans from the banks. He asked them to prepare a detailed plan proposal justifying their demands, after which he said he will facilitate a meeting between the NGO and bank managers.
