ITANAGAR, Sep 6: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and the First Lady of the State Neelam Misra voluntarily linked their Aadhaar Cards with their Voter's Identity card i.e. Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) in presence of District Electoral Officer (DEO) cum Deputy Commissioner, Papum Pare District, Sachin Rana and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) Omey Apang at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar today.
The Governor said that bogus voting and registration of a voter in more than one place have been a big challenge all these years to democracy. By linking Aadhaar with Election Card, there will be genuineness in voting and voters lists will become accurate, he said.
The Governor appealed to the people of the state to link their Aadhaar Card with their EPIC. He said that the voluntary linking will help in removing all duplications in the voters’ lists and pave the way for correct planning of developmental activities and create a clean and transparent photo-based electoral roll.
