ITANAGAR, Jan 2: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) has advised the Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs etc. Mama Natung to prepare a roadmap for harnessing the sporting potential of Arunachal Pradesh to make the state the games and sports hub in the Northeast.
Governor’s advice came when Natung called on him here at the Raj Bhavan on Friday. While stating that blessed with unique physique the state’s people possess great potential for games and sports, he advised the Minister to hone their skills and transform them into sportspersons for international competitions. “Many of our sportspersons have excelled in the fields of mountaineering, boxing, archery, martial arts and other games. With a formal, holistic and systematic sports development framework, the youths will be encouraged towards sporting activities as a pursuit,” the Governor observed while commending the Minister and the government for providing sports quota reservation in state government jobs.
Briefing the Governor about the initiatives taken to encourage sportspersons and promote games and sports activities in the state, the Minister assured him of sustained efforts in making Arunachal Pradesh a major sporting hub. PRO Raj Bhavan
