ITANAGAR, Apr 16: Hundreds of government employees joined the nation-wide mass rally organized by the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) Arunachal Pradesh unit demanding implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Holding placards, banners and shouting slogans, participants marched from Akashdeep Complex to IG Park, in the state capital.
Speaking to the media, NMOPS (AP) President, Dakme Abo informed that the movement is not limited to Arunachal Pradesh but a similar movement is being organized all over India.  Today similar rallies are being organized in all the districts of Arunachal Pradesh following the direction of the national team, he added.
As stated in the last press conference, the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) Arunachal Pradesh unit is organizing this peaceful rally demanding the state government to implement the OPS replacing the existing national Pension Scheme, Abo said.
Many states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and West Bengal have implemented the OPS replacing the NPS. If other states can invoke the same then why can't our state government do the same for the welfare of its own employees? Since 2008 the NPS has been implemented in the state, so our simple demand is to resume the OPS, added the President-NMOPS(AP).
