ITANAGAR, Jul 5:  Chief Minister Pema Khandu reiterated his commitment to combat corruption asserting that government officials found involved in corrupt practices would face imprisonment. The Chief Minister's remarks came in response to questions from the media regarding the recent controversies surrounding illegal teacher appointments and the distribution of substandard laptops to district toppers of CBSE examinations.
Khandu said that he has instructed the concerned department and the Special Investigation Cell (SIC) to launch a thorough and impartial probe into the matter of illegal teacher appointments. Addressing the issue of substandard laptops, Khandu revealed that upon receiving information about the substandard/defective laptops provided to the class X and XII toppers in various districts, he immediately directed the Chief Secretary and Education Minister to take swift action.
"No one will be spared, including those who remain concealed after committing acts of corruption, this is my promise," stated the CM while emphasizing the transparency of his government. He highlighted the firm measures taken against corrupt practices during his seven-year tenure as Chief Minister, asserting that his administration had initiated strong actions against all individuals involved in corrupt activities.
Khandu further emphasized that he and every member of the government, right from the Chief Minister to the lowest-ranking staff, are public servants entrusted with providing services to the people. Expressing his resolve, he stated, "Enough is enough; Government officials who draw salaries from public funds and engage in corrupt practices will soon find themselves in jail."
