ITANAGAR, May 26: The central body of the All Arunachal Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers Association (CB-AASSATA) has urged the state government to regularize the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA-ISSE) contractual teachers. In a press conference held at the press club in Itanagar, the association's President Techi Bollo highlighted the need for  timely and consistent regularization of contractual teachers.
Bollo, stated that in 2018, the state government had regularized 400 contractual teachers; however, since then, the process of yearly regularization has not been implemented. As a result, approximately 6,240 contractual teachers in the state are still awaiting regularization. Despite raising concern with the state government on multiple occasions, no response has been received thus far. Therefore, the association has appealed for the immediate implementation of yearly regularization for 400 contractual teachers under SSA.
Bollo further emphasized that the present BJP government had openly promised in its 2019 election manifesto to regularize contractual teachers under SSA in a phased manner. Hence, the association expects the state government to devise a concrete policy to ensure the timely regularization of teachers.
Expressing concern over recent reports of illegal teachers’ appointments, he also urged the government and other political parties not to politicize the issue and let the investigation be done in a free & fair manner. He noted that the matter has already been taken up by the Education Minister, and a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the issue and take appropriate legal action against those involved. Rather than politicizing the matter, the association suggested that political parties, student organizations, and community-based organizations collaborate to provide constructive inputs to prevent such illegal appointments in the state.
