ZIRO, Sep 6: All Apatani Gaon Burah Welfare Association, Ziro (AAGBWA) organized a one-day Supung Dapo (an awareness rally) on law & order problems, illegal hunting & fishing, alcohol and drug abuse, etc here at Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Hija ground Tuesday.
226 Gaon Buras and Gaon Buries of Ziro-I circle gathered and took out Supung Dapo awareness rally against anti-social activities by alcoholics or drug addicts who create nuisance in Ziro Valley.
The rally is also against illegal collection of jungle products including hunting and fishing with modern arms which someday if not controlled will affect not only ecological balance but culture and religion as well.
Besides, they also appealed the district administration to maintain timings for wine shops and to forbid sale of alcohol to minors.
Apatani Women Association Ziro (AWAZ), Apatani Youth Association (AYA), Apatani Students Union (ASU) and All Niichi Niitii Youth Organization (ANNYO) also attended the awareness meeting and came up to support the AAGBWA’s resolution adopted.
Earlier, the rally with 226 GBs covered entire villages of Apatani plateau viz Hija, Dutta, Mudang-Tage, Bamin-Michi, Hong, Bwrw, Hari, Kalung-Reru, Tajang, Old Ziro by giving public announcements discouraging anti-social activities while cautioning to face customary law of the community.
