ITANAGAR, Mar 25: Global Climate Strike-2022 (GCS) rally, global movement to draw attention to the climate crisis in the world was organized by the Fridays for Future- Arunachal Pradesh (FFA) unit with the theme "People Not Profit" from Akashdeep to IG Park near here on Friday.
As a part of the movement, open discussion on the ongoing climate issues, local environmental issues, debate, open Mic poetry, face painting and games were organized.
Speaking to the reporters, Chairman of the Youth Mission for Clean River (YMCR-AP), SD Loda said that the most concerning issue in the present day for human existence is the constant climate change. The change in climate due to human made environmental pollution is a threat for the future of human beings.
He said with GCS, the organization is trying to send a message to the people on preservation of natural resources. Once the environment consisting of flora and fauna is smashed, the very existence of human life on earth is unimaginable.
“Deforestation is very much concerning for the people, as it leads to climate change, desertification, soil erosion, fewer crops, flooding, and a host of problems for people. Therefore, every individual should come forth in preserving our environment, before it’s too late,” he said.     
He said today global warming is the major concern of the world. Hence, every government should come up with a proper law that protects the environment.  Owing to negligence, many perennial rivers in the state are either becoming seasonal or vanishing altogether, he added.
“Infrastructure development is important, however, the government should be very careful on not impacting the natural environment as it is the root for human existence on earth,” he said, also appealing to the religious leaders to preach on the preservation of natural resources around us for the future.
Discontent over the less participation of youths in the rally, Loda said that this indicates that people are not concerned over the climate issues prevailing in the world.
Among others, the members of Human Rights Law Network (HRLN) and Green Media (GM) participated in the rally on the day.
