RAGA, Jun 10:  Four people were killed in a road accident in Kamle district and several others were severely hurt in the mishap.
The tragic incident took place between 8 am and 9 am this morning, when a passenger vehicle (Tata Sumo) carrying nine passengers met with an accident near the Kemliko area, situated between Godak and Raga in Kamle District. The vehicle was en route from Daporijo to Itanagar when the accident occurred.
Local residents who witnessed the accident promptly came forward as volunteers to assist in the search and rescue operation. Upon receiving information about the incident, the Raga Police and a medical team rushed to the spot to provide the necessary aid.
The accident claimed the lives of four individuals. Three passengers tragically lost their lives on the spot, while another passenger succumbed to injuries at a medical facility. The deceased have been identified as Tagam Baja, Tad Longku, Kabak Pipi Laa, and Shaiful Islam, the driver of the vehicle, who took his last breath at Raga Hospital.
Additionally, five passengers sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The Raga Police Station has registered a suo-motu case No. 07/2023 under sections 279, 304(a), 337, and 338 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with the accident, informed  Superintendent of Police Kamle, Taru Gussar who is overseeing the investigation.
"This unfortunate incident serves as a grim reminder of the risks involved in road travel. It highlights the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and maintaining caution while on the road. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the deceased, and we wish a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident," added the SP.
