PASIGHAT Apr 5: While deeply condemning the recent attack on AE, WRD, Boleng Sub-Division, Er. Tomo Pertin by one Obuk Tapak at Samshanghat area, Aalo, West Siang, the Mariyang Area Intellectual Forum (MAIF) led by President, Advocate Tonning Pertin has said that, such attacks on government officers should be given exemplary punishment.

Pertin said that, attack on Er. Tomo Pertin was basically due to non-signing on false bill and such act of any person should be strongly condemned by all quarters. “Signing on false bill is illegal and a serious offence but Er. Pertin was being forced to sign on it. When he didn’t sign, Tapak followed him up to Aalo from Pangin-Boleng and assaulted him dragging him out from the car”, added MAIF President. MAIF also alleged police of not acting promptly to arrest Tapak after a case was registered against him vide Aalo PS Case No. 16/2017 U/S 341/325/332/506 IPC on 31st March 2017.

When Aalo PS, OC, Minli Geyi was asked about the case status and their alleged inaction, he told this reporter over telephone this evening that, Aalo PS had worked promptly by even sending the WT messages to Boleng PS as the accused fled away from Aalo after the case was registered. However, accused Tapak was arrested today but on production of an anticipatory bail from High Court, he was released on bail, informed Geyi. The investigation on the case will continue despite the accused being released on bail today, added OC, Aalo PS.
