PASIGHAT, Mar 21: 5^thdeath anniversary of renowned businessman and former Minister Late Kabang Borang was observed here at  his Mirku-Dapi(Pasighat) residence today amidst relatives, Bogong Banggo Kebang President Oyem Dai, DMO Dr. M. Perme, KEK Secretary General Anning Borang, Tokbom Perme. People on the occasion paid floral tributes, offered prayer and recalled the contributions of the great leader.

 Borang was born in 1939 at Ayeng village of East Siang and took last breath on March-21, in the year 2012. He was the first Agency Council (NEFA) member of the state and started his political career as a member of Siang Zilla Parishad in 1969. Later, he joined active politics and was elected to the first Legislative Assembly in March 1990 and retained for two consecutive elections. He served the people of the state as cabinet minister, holding Forest and Environment, transport, Law & Judicial and Home ministry etc. He also served as Board Member of Eastern Railway, Telecom etc. Notably, Mebo-Dhola Road was initiated by visionary Borang 1974 to strengthen road communication. “Siang Sport Association” was formed in the year 1981 under dynamism of Boarang and many present prominent personalities like Tajom Tasung, Gagam Ering, Bishi Lego, Bolung Siram, Okom Jamoh, Purno Bahadur Chetry, Popo Linggi and Martin Mimi actively participated in various sports and games tournaments, in the next year 1982.
