AALO, Aug 11: The West Siang police has informed that five major drug rackets operating here in the township had been successfully busted by them after three consecutive back-to-back raids at several locations on August 8 last.
The breakthrough was made by a police team comprising DSP Sange Thinley, SI Chankham Yangchang, SI Wangke Ronrang and Constable Hari Robin under direct supervision of SP West Siang, Jummar Basar. Contraband substances suspected to be heroin having a current market value of over Rs two lakhs were recovered during the raids.
The haul has been possible after continuous monitoring of the suspected drug dealers for over a month. “With the help of drug dealers from Assam, these peddlers had managed to smuggle the contraband to West Siang and were planning to sell it to customers,” SP said in a press release, adding that although several drug rackets had been busted in the district during last one year, the current one surpasses the previous ones in terms of recovery as well as arrests. “West Siang Police is resolute to bring anyone involved in this organized crime and ensure they are brought to task,” he asserted.
A criminal case vide Aalo PS C/No. 55/20 U/S 21(b)/22(b)/27(a)/27A NDPS Act R/W Sec 34 IPC has been registered in connection with the case.
