NAMSAI, May 3: An FIR has been lodged by the Chairman of the Lotong Banggo Central Solung Festival Celebration Committee (LBCSFCC) against leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for allegedly trespassing into N.R. Lotong Gidi Notko— a sacred religious Hall cum ground of the Adi community in Jaipur village, Namsai— and attempting to organize alleged  political event without permission.
According to the FIR filed by the Chairman of LBCSFCC, the incident occurred on May 1, despite a prior complaint submitted on April 30 to the Deputy Commissioner of Namsai, requesting that no political activity be allowed at the Notko premises due to its religious and cultural significance. Following this request, the Deputy Commissioner did not grant permission for the event.
FIR further added that, despite the denial, members of the NCP, led by Bodong Tayeng,  Jiten Dai, and  Rajeshwar Misong, reportedly entered the Notko grounds on May 1  last and attempted to proceed with the Labour Day program. The FIR alleges that the leaders trespassed and provoked local residents, leading to a confrontation with one Buteng Tayeng, General Secretary of LABK, and other community members.
The situation escalated when NCP leaders allegedly attempted to physically assault Tayeng, and tensions were only defused following the intervention of the District Administration. However, according to the FIR, the group returned with over 100 supporters and again attempted to occupy the premises, further aggravating the situation.
Chairman, in its FIR asserted that threats were issued against  Buteng Tayeng by the NCP leaders, causing fear among the local community regarding his safety and that of his family.
LBCSFCC Chairman seeks legal action under relevant provisions of trespass, criminal intimidation, and disruption of communal peace.
