SEIJOSA, Apr 9: Chief Minister Pema Khandu today said that few individuals are misleading the people about dams and termed it a worldwide conspiracy.
"Some individuals are trying to mislead the people of Arunachal about dams and it’s a worldwide conspiracy to stop India from developing and feed wrong information when it comes to hydropower," Khandu said while responding to query about dam projects in Arunachal Pradesh.
He also asserted that before any project, there are experts from different fields who carryout the assessment and file reports before giving any clearance. "So after clearance, only the work on the ground gets started. The priorities in the assessments list is the impact on the human race, the environment, and many other vital issues. There are no problems in making a dam, and if there are any issues, options are there to re-plan or re-generate the project with corrective measures," stated the CM.
No one can fight nature, so it is not necessary that natural calamities will only occur in the area of dams. When we have to live and move ahead then we have to make development and investment, he said.
Natural calamities and dams are two different chapters. In fact, flood and landslide get controlled where dam is being constructed, asserted the CM.
"India is a democratic country and I honour Anti-Dam movement; they have the right to protest, but when people of the respective areas have no issues with the construction of dam, then others also should not have any objection," Khandu said.
