PASIGHAT, Feb 17: Ali Aye Ligang, one of the vibrant festivals of the Mising community was celebrated on Friday at Oiram Bori Memorial Festival Ground, Oyan in East Siang district with pomp and grandeur.
Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong and Sadia (Assam) MLA Bolin Chetia graced the occasion as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. East Arunachal MP Tapir Gao, Pasighat West MLA Ninong Ering, DC Tayi Taggu, AMBK Secretary General Okom Yosung, Ex MP Nyodek Yonggam, Ex MLA Tatung Jamoh and many prominent personalities joined the celebration and indulged in symbolic sowing of paddy. Dignitaries present on the occasion released two books, authored by Nydek Yonggam, former Member of Parliament and former Chief Information Commissioner.
MLA Moyong said festivals were mirror of society and spread the message of brotherhood, unity and peace and happiness with another and is a good lesson for the upcoming generation. Appreciating the “Mega Ali Aye LigangGidi-2023 Committee” President and General Secretary Kantong Panggam and Mojit Pao for organizing the celebration in a grand and befitting manner, Moyong called upon the people to keep their rich culture, language and literature alive. He also spoke on the common origin, age-old cultural linkage and similarities between the Adis and the Mising communities. The MLA informed that the government was making every effort to help the indigenous people in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the state. 
Sadia MLA Bolin Chetia said Ali Aye Ligang is a spring festival associated with agriculture and observed across Assam with traditional fervor. The festival marks the onset of sowing seeds and young people in particular participate in Gumraag Soman and dance to the tune of folk songs and melodies. 
Chetia said that during last few years, PM Narendra Modi’s leadership at the center has brought massive infrastructural development in all fronts.  He expressed hope that developed road connectivity would promote tourism sector in Assam and Arunachal and advised the people to be more hospitable to attract tourists.
