PASIGHAT, Apr 16: A father-daughter duo was charred to death and two other members of the family sustained grievous injuries when their dwelling at Pasighat in East Siang district caught fire, official sources said on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as three-year-old Divyani Shah and her father Rahul Shah.
The fire accident broke out around 10.15 pm on Friday night at Bihari Colony, opposite of Pasighat Judicial jail, where five 'Kachha' houses were completely reduced to ashes.
Reportedly, fire brigade on call reached the site, doused the blaze but the fire engulfed everything that the dwellers had.
Local MLA Kaling Moyong along with Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu, ASP Token Saring and PMC Chief Councilor Okiam Moyong Borang on Saturday morning visited the spot to assess the loss and distributed immediate relief to the victim families and consoled them. During the visit, the DC informed that the cause of the fire is not known yet and investigations are on to unearth the reason behind the fire.
