Roing, Aug 4: A Farmers Training Programme on Oil Palm Cultivation Practices was inaugurated today by DC Soumya Saurabh in the presence of Former Vice Chancellor (Tamil Nadu Agriculture University) Dr N. Kumar and a team of Scientist from ICAR-IIOPR, Pedavege led by Principal Scientist Dr. M. Prasad, District Agriculture Officer Balung Mengu and officials from Agriculture Department.
The training is being conducted by 3F Oil Palm Pvt. Ltd, in collaboration with the District Agriculture Office, Roing for the benefit of the Oil palm farmers.
The day also witnessed the start of  the Mega Oil Palm Plantation Drive and seedling distribution programme, presently running under the Government of India's flagship scheme National Missions on Edible Oils-Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) by handing over Oil Palm seedling to progressive farmers of LDV.
Dr. N. Kumar urged the farmer community to avail the opportunity of the presence of the eminent scientists to clear their doubts. The Scientist from IIOPR provided training to the Oil Palm farmers of LDV regarding various technical aspects and husbandry practices of Oil Palm cultivation.
