PASIGHAT, Sep 3: Awareness-cum-sensitization programme and Two days Training programme on “Eco-friendly Management of Fall Army Worm in Maize”, was conducted under project “Arik Abik Lunom-Mobile Based Agro Advisory System in Arunachal Pradesh” which is implemented by the College of Horticulture and Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat, in collaboration with Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
The broad objective of the project is to provide right information at right time and empower the farmers in taking informed decision to enhance their livelihood through Mobile Based Agro Advisory Services in local dialect. The project is being implemented in nine districts of Arunachal Pradesh --East Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, Lower Siang, Siang, Lepa Rada, Lower Dibang Valley, Namsai and Shi Yomi. 
In the training programme, the recurring issues of fall army worm in the maize are being discussed. The farmers of Arunachal Pradesh are growing maize in large scale. The fall army worm control organic package of practices will be delivered to the farmers with the availability of organic and safe inorganic insecticides in proper doses. Eco-friendly management of fall armyworm using bio-pesticides and bio-control agents is discussed.
