Doimukh, Feb 28: A team from the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) NERIST Cell, accompanied by local farmers, visited the Government Fisheries Department in Emchi, Doimukh, to gain insights into advanced fish farming techniques and sustainable aquaculture practices. 
The visit, aimed at enhancing local fish farming knowledge, was conducted under the guidance of Prof. T. Patel, Regional Coordinator, UBA NERIST, and led by John Engti, Project Assistant, UBA NERIST.
The primary objectives of the visit were to familiarize farmers with modern fish farming techniques and provide practical knowledge to improve fish production. Officials from the Fisheries Department welcomed the team and conducted an informative introductory session, highlighting the department’s activities, available resources, and government schemes supporting aquaculture.
Farmers were given hands-on exposure to various aquaculture techniques, including pond management, fish breeding, water quality maintenance, and disease control measures. The team visited different fishponds, where they observed practical applications of these techniques and learned about the crucial role of environmental factors in successful aquaculture.
The visit proved to be highly informative and beneficial, equipping local farmers with valuable skills to enhance fish farming practices. The initiative aligns with UBA NERIST’s commitment to rural development and capacity building, fostering sustainable livelihoods in the region,stated a release.
