Itanagar, Jan 13: The state government appointed expert study group on opening trade via Pangsau Pass submitted its final report today.
The expert Study Group on “Pangsau Pass Trade Study Group 2022” is led by Prof. Mahendra P. Lama, as the Study Director, for “Preparation of Comprehensive DPR for Opening of Trade through Pangsau Pass under Indo-Myanmar Sector and through Dongsengmang via Darranga LCS under Indo-Bhutan Sector”.
The Study Group has also made a comprehensive Powerpoint Presentation before Nyato Dukam, Minister, Trade & Commerce etc. in presence of Manish Kumar Gupta, Chief Secretary and Senior Officers of various Departments, such as Home, Planning & Investment, Finance, Tourism, Power, Land Management.
This study will help to retrace and recollect the historical basis of trade, tourism, investment, energy corridor, culture, pilgrimage, health, education, and natural resources through the Pangsau route (with Myanmar) and Dongshengmang/ Bletting route (with Bhutan).
Most importantly, it will help the department to examine the macro-level implications of the reopening of these routes and assess and quantify the development implications of these new cross border connectivity and exchanges for Arunachal Pradesh.
With an objective to identify, design and devise the broad policies, operational modalities, regulatory framework and promotional measures for the reopening and smooth facilitations of Arunachal Pradesh (North East Region)-Myanmar exchanges and interaction through this multimodal connectivity in the form of a Detailed Project Report (DPR), this study provides an opportunity for a wide spectrum for trade connectivity which will enable to implement the Act East Policy in true spirit, andwill provide a road map to connect the international trade-route for South East Asian countries but also open a scope for international trade with rest of the country including Arunachal Pradesh.
