Itanagar, Nov 27: As a part of the ongoing preparedness for the upcoming PR and Municipal polls in the state, all Election Observers appointed for the purpose were briefed on their roles and responsibilities in a meeting today held here at the Dorjee Khandu Convention Hall, chaired by the State Election Commissioner Hage Kojeen.
The State Election Commissioner while reiterating that the duty of the Commission is to conduct the local body elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner, stated that Election Observers are its eyes and ears. “They are expected to provide direct inputs to the Commission regarding proper implementation of various election processes including the MCC,” he said, while advising them to display proper and dignified conduct before the electorate while discharging duties.
The PowerPoint presentations on Observers' Guidelines for were made by Joint Secretary (Home/SEC) Tamune Miso and Deputy Secretary (Home/SEC) Habung Lampung. State Epidemiologist/State Nodal Officer-COVID-19 Dr. Lobsang Jampa explained the COVID SOPs issued by the State Election Commissioner in addition to the existing Central and State guidelines through a PowerPoint presentation.
Earlier, Secretary, SEC Nyali Ete explained the objective of the meeting and the constitutional and legal compulsions for conducting the local body elections in the state under Covid-19 situation. As many as 35 Election Observers attended the meeting. SEC PR
