ITANAGAR, Oct 17: In a strong statement against alleged corruption in the Frontier Highway Project, the East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO) has demanded the immediate suspension of the Deputy Commissioner, District Land Revenue and Settlement Officer (DLRSO) of East Kameng, and other officials reportedly involved in the alleged multi-crore land compensation scam linked to the Lada–Sarli Frontier Highway project.
Addressing a press conference, EKSWCO Generel Secretary Kasung Cheda stated that the officials’ suspension is essential to facilitate a free, fair, and transparent re-verification of land compensation claims. The organisation alleged gross irregularities, manipulation, and misuse of public funds during the disbursement process meant for genuine landowners affected by the highway construction.
Describing the issue as a “serious breach of public trust,” EKSWCO urged the state government to conduct an independent and time-bound inquiry and bring all guilty officials to justice.
The Lada–Sarli Frontier Highway, a strategically vital project to bolster border connectivity and national security, has been mired in controversy after reports surfaced of inflated and fraudulent compensation claims.
EKSWCO reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring accountability and good governance, warning that failure to act swiftly could erode public confidence in developmental initiatives in border districts.
