GYAWEPURANG (SEPPA), Oct 26: East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organization (EKSWCO) Chairperson Bharat Sonam said that EKSWCO is the parliament of East Kameng district where resolutions to tackle various social issues is being adopted after in-depth discussions.
Sonam, who was addressing the gathering during the 44th foundation day of EKSWCO here, said that this is few of many organizations where people, leaders, and youths irrespective of any background participate to discuss the challenges of the East Kameng district and accordingly resolve it.
He said that the organization stands with the idea of ‘Pan Arunachal’ and the betterment of the district in specific. Accordingly, the organization has been coming up with topics relating to the welfare of the public of the district.
“Like we discussed the road connectivity and other issues faced by the people of Lada circle. In the same way today we are discussing on the topic, Gyawepurang circle; on the quest of development,” he said, adding that every discussion is placed before the present and past legislators of the respective constituency in presence of the public.
He said better education facilities for the public are the priority of EKSWCO. Likewise, the organization is ensuring better infrastructure and the presence of government officials in Gyawepurang circle.
“The other topic for discussion was the ‘Nyira-Paaney’ system still prevailing in the district. Hence, the organization is in an effort to root out the system from society. Moreover, this system and thought which still exist among few sections of people are hampering the society in maintaining brotherhood,” he said.
However, the organization has been successful in maintaining cordial relations between five tribes settled in the district, he added. “The translation of ‘Nyira-Paaney’ in English would be ‘Slave’ in the local dialect, it is called so. Unfortunately, many people still have owners due to which there are differences among the people,” he said.
On the sideline, Sonam also refuted various allegations leveled against him by one Sol Dodum for his monetary involvement in the Panchayat election and other departmental corruption.
Earlier, EKSWCO also acknowledged Minister Mama Natung for his contribution towards the public of East Kameng district in the education sector, the state-wide wildlife conservation campaign, ‘Airgun surrender Abhiyaan’.
