PASIGHAT, Nov 4: In a major development in the ongoing investigation into the suspicious death of a cadet at Sainik School, Niglok, the East Siang District Police have taken custody of eight cadets in connection with the case registered as Ruksin PS Case No. 20/2025 under Sections 108/106(1)/3(5) BNSS.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Siang District, the eight CCLs (Children in Conflict with Law) were taken into custody by police and subsequently produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Pasighat, on November 3.
The Board, headed by the Principal Magistrate, ordered that the juveniles be handed over to the custody of the Vice-Principal, Sainik School, Niglok, for a period of one week, with an undertaking and bond to be furnished by their guardians as stipulated under Form 8, Rule 11(6) of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Police sources confirmed that further investigation into the case is actively underway to determine the exact circumstances and individuals responsible for the cadet’s untimely death.
On November 1, a young cadet, a student of class VII was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the school campus. The shocking incident has sparked widespread concern among parents and the community, calling for stronger safety mechanisms in residential institutions across the state.
