ITANAGAR, Jul 15: Education officials made an exhaustive two-day visit to ascertain the present status of development in the ongoing projects sanctioned under RUSA, a flagship programme of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India and by the state government.
The team comprised of Director Higher & Technical Education cum State Project Director (RUSA) Alik Jongkey along with Deputy Director cum Deputy State Project Director (RUSA) Minto Ete, Technical Support Group member OSD (Technical) N. K. Tripathi, RUSA consultant S. K. Sharma, Assistant Engineer Gyamar Natung and Junior Engineer Tame Raju.
The team first visited the Model Degree College, Kanubari in Longding district. Taking stock of the creation of infrastructure like academic and the administrative blocks, the team was satisfied with the pace and quality of works inspite of various hurdles faced by the executing agency due to short working season and adverse natural conditions.
The team while visiting Wangcha Rajkumar Govt. College, Deomali congratulated the college fraternity on its Silver Jubilee and lauded the efforts of the stakeholders for their sincere contributions for overall development of the institution. The team thereafter inspected the site of upcoming Girl’s hostel sanctioned under RUSA in the campus and was happy to observe the quality and aesthetics of the infrastructure. The team also suggested to take necessary steps for making the infrastructure PwD friendly.
While visiting the Model Degree College, Piyon, Namsai District, the Director Higher & Technical Education desired the executing agency to submit the inclusive and exhaustive proposal for holistic development of the institution. The team observed that external electrification and external water supply are to be undertaken on priority basis.
The team also visited the Indira Gandhi Govt. College Tezu and inspected the renovation works and developmental works undertaken through funding from RUSA. Alik Jongkey informed that through sincere efforts and time bound completion of projects the development can be assured for the ageing institutions like IGGC, Tezu.
The team then inspected the infrastructure of Govt. Engineering College, Tezu sanctioned under RUSA to take stock of development and uprising of infrastructure. The infrastructure of the upcoming Engineering College was found to be excellent both qualitatively and quantitatively. It was also observed that due to limited project cost sanctioned under RUSA various developmental schemes are to be taken up separately in due to course of time to fully develop the institution as Model Technical Institution of the State.
The team thereafter visited Jomin Tayeng Govt. Model Degree College, Roing to take stock of construction of Residential Quarters under development of infrastructure and instructed the executing agency to complete the project within September 2023.
Earlier, Minto Ete, Dy. SPD (RUSA) expressed his gratefulness to RUSA Mission Authority, Govt. of India and Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh for developing the infrastructural facilities in the higher education institutions in the State and called upon all the executive agencies to submit the Utilization Certificates as instructed and envisaged by the Minister Education Taba Tedir in the 7th Meeting of the State Higher Education Council held on June 6 last.
