PASIGHAT, Sep 11: In continuation of the special drive against modified silencers, the East Siang Traffic Police seized 14 bikes from various locations across Pasighat.
Bikes fitted with modified silencer pipes have been causing sound pollution in and around Pasighat town, creating serious inconvenience to the general public.
Pankaj Lamba, IPS, Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Pasighat has appealed to all bike owners to remove or replace modified silencers and ensure compliance with the law. Further, he stated that shops/ garages engaged in modifying silencers contrary to MV Act will be put to task.
Lamba also said  "l urge citizens to cooperate with police efforts in maintaining peace and a pollution-free environment in the town.”
Meanwhile, citizens of Pasighat in particular and East Siang District in general have welcomed the action taken by the police for cracking down upon the unruly youths using modified silencers on their bikes. Troubled due to loud noise by the modified silencer bikes, many had already lodged complaints at Pasighat Police Station seeking strict police action upon noise pollution. 
Many citizens have also appealed the SP Pasighat, Pankaj Lamba to launch the drive against modified silencer bikes in all corners of Pasighat as well as in the villages under Mebo, Ruksin, Sille-Oyan circles.
