PASIGHAT, May 17: The district level pre-monsoon preparedness meeting chaired by the East Siang Deputy Commissioner cum District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Tayi Taggu today thoroughly discussed department-wise monsoon preparedness plans and response activities. He directed all officers to remain present in their respective places of posting with full alertness to face any disastrous situation.   
Stressing the need for greater coordination and co-operation among various stakeholders and NGOs to tackle disasters, Taggu called for timely issue of notice to people living in vulnerable areas, maintaining stock of life saving drugs and food grains.
 "Natural disasters are unpredictable and therefore measures and good practices should be adopted in combating the future calamities," he said further directing all line departments to review and submit their disaster management plans. The DC emphasized the need for greater coordination and cooperation from various stakeholders and non-governmental agencies in order to tackle disasters collectively and directed officials to remain in their respective places of posting in a state of full alert to face any disastrous situation and thoroughly discussed about lessons learned from previous pre and post preparedness and disaster response activities.
The DC emphasized on timely issuing of notices to people living in vulnerable areas, and directed all concerned officers to maintain stocks of lifesaving drugs and food grains. Natural disasters are unpredictable and therefore appropriate measures and good practices should be adopted in combating future calamities, stated Taggu, who is also the district disaster management authority chairman.
Earlier, Superintendent of Police Sumit Kumar Jha also shared vital suggestions and preventive measures for the upcoming monsoon with an assurance to extend all possible help and assistance to the DDMA. While advocating advance action to face the ensuing monsoon, the SP threw light on disaster relief measures including early warning systems, checking readiness of equipment & communication systems, advance procurement of necessary relief materials; coordinated approach for disaster response & community-based disaster management. He highlighted crucial role of police & fire control services and assured all possible help to DDMA.  
The meeting was held in the office conference hall and was attended by the PMC Chief Okiam Moyong Borang, HODs, representatives of CRPF BRO and army officials from Rayang and Sigar military stations. DDMO Tsangpa Tashi  presented a detail report on preparedness.
