Pasighat, Dec 23: As part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign, Operation Dawn, Pasighat Police made significant progress on Sunday, by apprehending two individuals involved in drug trafficking in Pasighat town. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SP East Siang, Pankaj Lamba and SDPO Pasighat, Ayup Boko.
The police team, acted on a tip-off regarding a drug delivery in Pasighat. A trap was set, and the team successfully apprehended the suspected peddler, identified as Marshal Yomso of Balek Sibo, Pasighat.
During the search, conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, police recovered 14.72 grams of heroin in a large orange-colored tobacco container, 1.35 grams of heroin in a transparent vial, and two syringes from Yomso. Upon interrogation, the accused revealed that the heroin was supplied by Smt. Nung Padung, daughter of Tapun Padung, from Korang village, Ruksin.
The police immediately instructed Yomso to contact Smt. Nung Padung for further delivery of heroin. The team apprehended her at Gumin Nagar, Pasighat, where a search revealed 8.45 grams of heroin in a pink-coloured tobacco container and a mobile phone. During questioning, Padung confessed that the drugs were supplied to her by Smt. Yatin Pajing Tali, wife of Tage Tali, of Gumin Nagar, Pasighat.
A case has been registered at Pasighat Police Station under case number PSGT PS C/No 150/2024 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, 1995.
SP East Siang, Pankaj Lamba, IPS, lauded the efforts of the Anti-Drug Squad and urged the public to cooperate by providing information about drug peddlers or users. “Together, we can achieve the goal of a drug-free East Siang,” he stated.
