PASIGHAT, Jun 2:  The 8th edition of Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy of under-16 boys and girls’ football and volleyball sports event concluded here at Pasighat Outdoor Stadium today on Monday.
East Siang lifted the Hangpan Dada Memorial Trophy-2025 (U-16) Boys football for the first time by defeating Leparada District by 4-3 goals, 
The closing ceremony was attended by minister Law, Legislative & Justice, Social Justice, Empowerment & Tribal affairs, Sports & Youth Affairs, Kento Jini, as Chief Guest, Major General Pankaj Saxena (VSM)  Retired as the Guest of Honour, 39th Mebo MLA, Oken Tayeng as Special Guest.
On the closing day, the boys’ final football match was played between host team East Siang and Leparada, where East Siang lifted the winning cup of HDMT-2025 after defeating the latter by 4-3 goals in a thrilling final match. 
During the occasion, Chief Guest of the closing ceremony, Minister Kento Jini while motivating the youths and all age groups stated that engaging oneself in sports keeps us healthy and sound.  The old saying “study is more important than sports” is gone, this new era is to give importance to sports along with academic routine. This present govt. lead by CM Pema Khandu is dedicated to work for youth’s development from grass-root level in sports as well, he said. He also informed the gathering that this govt. is going to launch many games and sports for all age groups in the coming days as this government understands that we as a state in particular will grow healthily when our people are fit.
When asked about the pending funds from the government to develop running track in the Outdoor stadium of Pasighat, Kento Jini informed that he has received a U/O note from Pasighat East MLA, Tapi Darang to which he had forwarded to the Director, Sports for timely sanctioning of the funds. 
Earlier, Guest of Honour, Retd. Major General (VSM) Pankaj Saxena briefed the life history of the great soul, Martyr Late Hangpan Dada on the occasion.
At the outset, Local MLA Tapi Darang addressed the gathering. He said that the HDMT tournament is not just about competition but it is about unity, discipline and honour. On the occasion, he also submitted a memorandum to the minister to upgrade the stadium with synthetic athletic track under Khelo India Scheme.
Best player in U-16 boys went to Kenmin Riba of Leparada and in girls Natali Yamdo of East Siang declared as best player of the tournament.
