PASIGHAT, Aug 22: East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu and Superintendent of Police Dr Sachin Kumar Singhal jointly launched ‘Project Manthan’, in an impressive function held on Wednesday evening at the Gandhi Chowk, main market area, Pasighat. 
The duo on the occasion informed that it is a community outreach program initiated by East Siang District Police to foster a safe, informed, and resilient community by building trust and collaboration between the police and residents. Through proactive education, awareness, and engagement on critical issues like drug prevention, cybercrime, women & child safety, road safety & other topics of community well-being, the project aims to empower citizens and ensure a secure environment for all. It will create opportunities for open dialogue between the police and the public over varied issues, identification and address issues before they escalate into serious crimes through community collaboration. 
The main motive of Project Manthan is to educate community members about crime prevention, safety measures, and their rights. Visit of team of police personnel to villages and interaction with all key stakeholders including GBs, Youth association members, ZPC, women, youth, school students and villagers. Every month two pre-decided villages will be visited. Concerned OC will convey the time to all stakeholders well in advance so that maximum people take part in the interaction and pamphlets & other IEC material with helpline numbers will be distributed. Visiting team will collect minimum five contact numbers of five respectable persons per village for further follow up and feedback and weekly ‘Action Taken Report’ by concerned OC will be submitted to higher authorities. 
The DC & SP expressed hope that the project will help in instilling better sense of security to residents of district besides increasing trust between law enforcement and community members, leading to more cooperation and support. Implementation of such project properly will decrease in overall crime rates, particularly in areas where community policing strategies are actively implemented.
