PASIGHAT, Apr 14: Fire Safety Week was launched here in East Siang today with series of awareness activities lined up in Pasighat Smart City and the rest of the district. This year the theme is Awareness in Fire Safety for Growth of National Infrastructure (AGNI).
Flagging off the campaign from the office of the Fire and Emergency Services and Fire Station here today, ASP (HQ), East Siang, Token Saring,  appealed to all citizens  for  following fire precaution  measures in homes, offices, health care  and commercial establishments to  prevent fire accidents which pose risk to life and  cause immense damage to assets and properties. He also spoke on the important role of the  Fire Service Personnel to disseminate fire safety procedures and measures with proactive efforts to prevent and minimize fire incidents.
SDPO, Pankaj Lamba , OC Fire Services Station, Pasighat,  B.Panging ,Fire  Service & Police Personnel among others were also present on the occasion.
Fire safety and evacuation drills, fire audits,  poster competitions, mini marathon etc., will be organized during the weeklong long campaign to generate maximum public awareness on fire safety measures & tips.
On the occasion of the National Fire Service Day today, a two-minute silence was also observed to pay homage to the brave firefighters, who lost their lives in the line of duty  at Mumbai Dockyard Fire accident in 1944.
The weeklong observation as part of the nationwide campaign organized by the East Siang District Fire & Emergency Service will conclude on April 20 next.
