PASIGHAT, Apr 1: The district disaster management authority (DDMA) East Siang on Tuesday convened a pre monsoon preparedness meeting with all the stakeholders like Army BRO Paramilitary forces, Administrative Officers. HoDs , SDRF personnel’s & AAPDA Mitra volunteers to take stock of the preparedness for the ensuing Monsoon.
Stressing on preparedness in view of the onset of Monsoon months, DC cum chairman DDMA East Siang, T.Taggu asked all stakeholders  to be aware of their roles and responsibilities to be in readiness to face any unforeseen situations while also referring to the devastation caused by the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. While taking stock of the contingency plans of all departments and stakeholders, he asked for strengthening  their respective contingency plans with preventive mindset to save lives and mitigate loss of properties and infrastructures etc. He also appreciated the inputs for  preventive measures made by stakeholders for addressing issues specific to the district.
The SP also highlighted various aspects of the contingency response plan of the police department for any emergencies in view of being one of the key stakeholders of the DDMA.
ADC(Hq) cum Incident Response Commander,DDMA Tatling Pertin also stressed on identification of vulnerable and high risk zone and also reiterated for need based response plan in place of all departments and stakeholders.
Earlier, DDMO T Tashi covered all the important aspects with regard to disaster management like preparation of DDMP, activation of IRS, identification of designated safe shelter, cleaning and desilting of drains, activation of DEOC, Preemptive pruning of trees, conducting of intensive awareness generation activities, stocking of essential commodities & life saving medicines, and survey of lifeline buildings etc. Further, he appealed every department concerned to prepare contingency plan of their respective deptt & agencies  by incorporating all important aspects as discussed in the meeting and submission of the same to the department of DM for further updation of District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP) .
The representatives from Military station of Rayang and Sigar also spoke on the occasion and shared their valuable inputs and preparation in the context of disaster management. DIPRO
