PASIGHAT, May 27: Monthly wise district level NCORD meeting was held under the chairmanship of East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tayi Taggu today, in order to chalk out a comprehensive strategy to counter the menace of drug abuse in the district.
The DC reviewed the implementation of the measures taken and progress achieved to eliminate drug abuse and peddlers of East Siang district. He stated while appreciating the efforts of NCORD team that efficiency written is paper will never match up in practical.
“As it is known, Silluk is the cleanest village of the District, let’s make Rani Village, the district’s largest village a drug free village,” he stated after knowing the efforts made by the village’s anti-drug warriors led by T. Darang, President. He also appreciated the NCORD team for their great coordination in the process of elimination of menace of drug abuse. The district is going in a good path as improvement is seen in the ground and it has also achieved so much in a span of 6-months, he added.
At the outset, the DC took a detailed appraisal from concerned members of the NCORD committee regarding the present scenario of drug related occurrences in the district.
Earlier, NCORD team also spoke in the meeting and suggested that there are still many obstacles to deal as drugs users and peddlers are in large numbers.
At the outset, East Siang SP highlighted the progress achieved so far in elimination of drug menace. He stated that district Police is doing every possible effort to root-out the problem and appealed that it is possible only when all the stakeholders coordinate with each other.
