PASIGHAT, Feb 27: The East Siang District Magistrate Tayi Taggu through an executive order U/S 133 Cr.PC today has banned all kinds of hunting and fishing in order to save and protect the wildlife in the entire district. Violation of this prohibitory order shall attract penal action as per provisions of law.
The order mentioned that various social organizations, environment activists and ABK Youth Wing have brought to the notice of the district administration that many individuals were engaged themselves in hunting of wild birds and animals and fishing in the district with different types of weapons, harmful chemical and explosive etc in the name of celebration of local festival, traditions and otherwise.
The district administration urged the civil society including the elected leaders, GBs, PRI leaders, NGOs and the citizens at large to extend their cooperation in checking hunting and fishing by unscrupulous people.
