SEPPA, Jul 16: The East Kameng Police under project 'Nigarani' has installed 32 CCTV cameras, including number plate reader cameras, in  the district specifically at Seppa, Bana and Lumdung.
In the last month of his tenure, SP  Rahul Gupta started the CCTV camera monitoring project 'Nigarani' across the district. The system became functional on July 7 last before he was transferred to Tirap district. A total of 32 cameras were installed, including 8 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras.
A centralised command room for all 32 cameras has been set up at the SP office and staff of computer cell was trained to handle the set up. To protect the CCTVs from miscreants, an iron cover box has been used.
The project is expected to improve the feeling of safety and security in the town, especially reducing crimes against women at public places including assisting the police in solving property crimes.
SP Rahul Gupta had also contributed in improving police infrastructure in Seppa with construction of ‘Nirbheek’ gym and ‘Prabodhan’ Library. His team had cracked biggest drug recovery case of Arunachal Pradesh Police. Under his leadership, a team comprising DySP Matin cracked the 40 Lakh ATM armed robbery case in Seppa. He had undertaken ‘Ek Nayi Disha’ awareness program for drugs, cyber and road safety. Moreover, he focused on career counselling of the students under ‘Unnati’ program. With his last project of CCTV cameras, he has left East Kameng Police a stronger force and East Kameng district as a safer place for development and tourism, a release issued by Matin Ratan, In-Charge SP said.
