ITANAGAR, Dec 22: Keyi Panyor Football Club and Capital Complex Football Club have made it to the grand finale of the 8th Eagle Trophy Football Championship after winning their respective semi final matches played today at the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium, Yupia.
In the first semi final of the competition, Keyi Panyor defeated Todo United FC by 2-1 to reach its second consecutive final of the Eagle Trophy.
It was Todo United FC which took the lead in the 7th minute when Yash Chikro scored the goal from the penalty spot. Keyi Panyor FC equalized in the 33rd minute of the first half through Nikter Nido’s goal taking advantage of error committed by TUFC goalkeeper. Nido completed his brace and scored the second goal for Keyi Panyor FC in the 48th minute. Todo United created multiple scoring chances in the second half but could not capitalize them and failed to convert into goals. KPFC held on to the lead till the last whistle and eventually became first team to qualify for the final.
In a highly anticipated and thrilling second semi final, Capital Complex FC clinched the winner by scoring in the dying minutes of the match to register a 3-2 win against the defending champions, Gora Makik SC.
As expected, match started on a very competitive mode and both teams looked hungry to take the lead in the match. Techi Rana of Gora Makik scored the first goal in the 22nd minute of the match. This was cut short and equalized by a fabulous strike of CCFC’s Akash Kino who scored the stunner from his own half in the 26th minute. Dorjee Tsewang put CCFC ahead in the 31st minute with his close range strike.
In the second half Techi Rana won the penalty for GMSC in the 53rd minute which was beautifully converted by Tame Agung. Despite many attacks from both side teams could find the goals until Nabam Peri of CCFC broke GMSC’s heart by scoring in 95th minute to take his team to the grand finale of the championship.
The final match of the championship will be played on December 24 next.
